Ryan Evanczyk has been a ski patroller since 2000 when he first moved to Summit County, CO and began working at Arapahoe Basin. From a previous life, he holds a business degree and used to have his own construction company. He has been able to utilize this previous work life experience to help Arapahoe Basin grow their snow safety operations through two major expansions during his tenure. Throughout his career at Arapahoe Basin, he has gained extensive avalanche experience as a patroller, rescuer, forecaster, and educator. He was eventually named the Director of Snow Safety at Arapahoe Basin in the spring of 2013. He now works full time year round at Arapahoe Basin having hung up his tool belt for weather stations, explosives and avalanches. He is a member of the International Society of Explosive Engineers as well as a member of the American Avalanche Association. If he isn’t skiing, he’s somewhere on a river fishing.
