Jayson is one of a handful of American IFMGA / UIAGM Mountain Guides and splits his time between Boulder, Colorado & Chamonix, France. Jayson began his journey as an avalanche educator by earning his Level 3 Certification from AIARE in 2005, and has been instructing all levels of recreational and professional format courses since. He is the former Professional Avalanche Programs Director for the Silverton Avalanche School; a past member of the Crested Butte Professional Ski Patrol; holds a Colorado Blaster’s License for Avalanche Control work; worked as a snowcat ski guide and avalanche technician for Irwin Guides; and was a founding member and forecaster for the Crested Butte Avalanche Center. These days between mountain guiding, and working in the avalanche education realm, Jayson is also is pursuing a M.S. in Organizational Leadership and Development. And oh yeah, of equal importance ….. he has been chasing pow turns on skis and a snowboard as many days a season as possible, since his Mom first took him to backyard the icy slopes of New England at the age of 3.
