DOCUMENTATION AND RECORD KEEPING

The SWAG upgrade course will introduce and review documentation and record-keeping guidelines as per the SWAG (Snow, Weather, & Avalanches: Observational Guidelines for Avalanche Programs in the U.S.). This course is required for the Level 3 if a participant’s level 2 course was less than 40 hours or taken 3 or more years ago.

This workshop will cover:

1. • Standard field weather observations & recording format
   

2. • Standard field stability observations & recording format
   

3. • Standard snow profile recording format
   

4. • Demonstration and documentation of stability tests and results
   

5. • Study plot observations and recording format
